The Studio

For the past 30 years the Northeast American School of Dance has called 25 Main Street in downtown Northampton home.

Main Street (Route 9) is easily accessible from Route 91 North (exit 19, turn, left onto Route 9, becomes Main Street in about 1/2 mile) or South (exit 20, straight through lights onto King Street, about 2 miles to Main/King Street intersection).

The beautiful and spacious studio is located on the fourth floor of the old Masonic Block (sometimes known as the “Coolidge Building,” as it once housed Calvin Coolidge’s law office). Today the ground floor of the building is occupied by a Northampton landmark, Fitzwilly’s restaurant.

At 340 open square feet and with 30-foot ceilings, the studio is indeed a treasure for the local dance community. It is home to by School for Contemporary Dance and Thought (SCDT). In addition to the dance school, the studio is host to many dance and improv events and is available for rental; contact by Studio4.

After 4:00 p.m., free parking is usually available in the Probate Court parking lot behind the building (enter through the Fitzwilly’s side or from King Street opposite Hotel Northampton). On-street metered parking is available. City of Northampton lots on Strong Avenue and Pleasant Street are also options. The Northampton Parking Garage is about 3 blocks away.

Elevator service is available.
